Susan Foster

Susan Foster began writing Sentinel fanfic after the show had already ended, but that didn't keep her from becoming a very popular author of Sentinel alternate universe stories. Her extensive, on-going GDP series won the 2000 Cascade Times award for best Sentinel alternate universe series and she has developed quite a group of devoted readers. Her stories have even inspired another author (Lindmere) to write stories in her universe. Susan's Cascade Library listing currently lists 26 stories, and Susan promises there are many more to come. Her stories are located at Susan's Sentinel Fan Fiction Site.

Thanks for taking the time to chat with us, Susan!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am an administrator at an archaeological site which is open to the public as a tourist attraction.

What else do you enjoy doing besides writing TS fan fiction?

Reading (fiction and factual especially history) and writing of course, but I also like theater and travel.

What is your favorite episode and why?

My favourite episodes of The Sentinel are Blind Man's Bluff and Breaking Ground. I like Breaking Ground because I work on an archaeological site and have never yet met such a cute archaeologist as Blair Sandburg, and girls, I live in hope (big smile).

Which of your stories is your favorite?

Of all my series, GDP is perhaps my favourite series. The Dark Guide is like son of that series since it grew out of the GDP one. People kept asking about the ancient pair, and I just found that I was writing a story to keep track of the dreams and it sprang from there.

My stories can be emotionally intense, but they are always going to be general stories. I will put the boys through the wringer emotionally and physically, but I promise always a happy ending.

Which character do you most enjoy writing?

Sorry, I can't choose between the boys. I like them both. They both are played by excellent actors who give them depth and colour and I must admit that I like them equally as well.

Are there particular kinds of Sentinel fanfic stories that you especially enjoy reading?

I love to read Sentinel fiction, but not death stories. I like happy endings too much. My favorite Sentinel author is TAE. She writes with such depth and feeling and I always look for any new story from her knowing that I am in for a real treat.

Can you tell us what stories you have in the works right now?

Destiny (GDP series) -- Blair and Jim have met several times through their lives. Destiny always brings them back together with the help of the spirit guide.

Echoes of the Past (GDP series) -- A case brings back to Jim a horror from his past which he had forgotten, and now must face with the help of his guide.

Angel of Death 2 -- Alex is in town and has a hit on her books, and she wants the help of the Angel to fulfill it.

Love and Misery (DG series) -- A young girl has to leave her village to marry a person she neither knows or loves. Her escort is a sentinel and guide, and that's when the trouble starts.

Thanks, Susan!
